Late Thursday evening, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever suffered an 89-77 loss to Jewell Loyd and the Seattle Storm.
The Fever fell to 7-12 on the 2024 WNBA season and have dropped two straight games. The Storm moved to 11-6 on the year, good for second in the Western Conference standings.
In 38 minutes of action, Clark scored 15 points on 44.4% shooting to go along with six rebounds and seven assists. Loyd scored an astounding 34 points on 66.7% shooting.
Many WNBA fans had a major issue with Clark’s performance in the game. The former Iowa Hawkeyes star only had nine shot attempts, well below her season average. They took to social media to leave their complaints.

“Having Caitlin Clark attempt 9 shots in an entire basketball game while having others attempt 16, 11, and 10 is a fireable offense.”
“Caitlin having only 9 shots is criminal.”
“9 total shot attempts.”
“When your team takes 65 shots, and your best shooter (Caitlin Clark) only takes 9 of them, you aren’t putting your team in a position to win. Yep, talking to you Christie Sides.”
“Tough for her to do any more than she is right now with how the team is playing. Need to work to get her more quality looks, 9 shot attempts from a generational shooter won’t cut it.”
“Not shooting nearly enough.”
Many fans are blaming Fever coach Christie Sides for the lack of shots from Clark. It is worth noting that Indiana is 0-5 when Clark has 10 or less shot attempts. For someone who broke the record for most all-time points in the NCAA, this seems like an issue.
