People are dragging Angel Reese over it. Wilson has put up a new banner in Chicago, a massive one celebrating Caitlin Clark, saying “Making History.”
This banner is huge, hanging on the side of a building, featuring Clark’s jersey. I did a video about a mural of her a while back, but this new banner is even funnier because it’s right in Chicago. It’s as big as you can get, with Caitlin Clark’s signature on it, adding more fuel to the fire. Just yesterday, I found out that the highest ticket price for the upcoming Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark rematch this Sunday at 3 p.m. Central Time is $9,000, with no ticket less than $250.
The banner is on the Wilson building, and it must drive Angel Reese crazy. It’s clear Wilson is baiting people to keep this feud alive. It’s a real feud, and it’s gotten ugly. I wonder how many Iowa graduates in Chicago will show up. I’m guessing a lot since Chicago is a Big 10 city. The banner is hung high to prevent vandalism, which is smart.
Caitlin Clark is signed by Wilson, so it makes sense for them to put up a banner of her. But in Chicago, it’s especially funny. I’m sure the Chicago Sky players aren’t happy about it. Angel Reese must be frustrated. It’s crazy and in your face, Angel Reese.
Caitlin Clark has fans all over the world. I saw a sign from a fan who traveled from Australia to see her play. No one’s traveling that far to see Angel Reese. For those hoping Caitlin Clark would join Team USA for the 3×3 tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics, that’s not going to happen. She doesn’t have enough ranking points from FIBA-approved tournaments. Her teammate, Cameron Britt, earned those points by playing in the 2023 Women’s World Cup, which is why she qualified.
Even though Caitlin Clark is highly skilled, she can’t join the 3×3 team because of this point system. Ice Cube even offered her $10 million to play in his three-on-three league, believing in her talent against grown men who played in the NBA. It’s a shame she’s not going to the Olympics due to this point system.
From a marketing and viewership perspective, leaving Caitlin Clark off Team USA is a massive mistake. Networks like NBC, which broadcast these games, care about ratings, and having Clark on the team would have been beneficial. I don’t understand why she’s not on the team, especially since players like Chelsea Gray haven’t played at all.
