Travis Kelce has finally broken his silence on Harrison Butker’s comments while revealing what he calls his teammate.

Butker, the Kansas City Chiefs kicker, sparked outrage around the country with his comments regarding what he believes a woman’s role in the family should be. The three-time Super Bowl winner was speaking to the graduating class at Benedictine College earlier this month when he urged the females to embrace the homemaker vocation.

Kelce, one of the most outspoken players in the NFL, took his time to respond, but what he said was pretty wholesome.

The Chiefs tight end spoke up in Butker’s defense on Friday while on his ‘New Heights’ podcast with his brother Jason.

Travis made sure to note that he didn’t agree with most of what “Harry” said, revealing he’s probably the only one who calls Butker by the nickname. But he also pointed out that the player’s views won’t and shouldn’t impact their relationship.

“I’ve known him for seven-plus years probably, eight-plus years,” he said, “and I cherish him as a teammate.”

“When it comes down to his views and what he said at the [Benedictine College] commencement speech, you know, those are his. I can’t say I agree with the majority of it — or, just about any of it outside of just him loving his family and his kids.

“And I don’t think that I should judge him by his views — especially his religious views of how to go about life. That’s just not who I am.”

Travis Kelce claimed that Harrison Butker has always been great to the family and friends he’s introduced him to, adding, “And that’s how he treats everyone.”

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also defended Butker during a press conference earlier this week, telling reporters he didn’t feel the need to speak to the player about his statement.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared similar sentiments too, referring to Butker as “a good person.”
