Olivia Dunne, who recently completed her senior year at LSU, was a huge part of the LSU Lady Tigers gymnastics team that made history by winning their first-ever NCAA Championship. However, that milestone did not lead to anything else when it came to the sport.
The former LSU gymnast is one of the biggest stars in the sport thanks to her huge social media following, but she is choosing against pursuing Olympic qualification and focusing instead on her next career steps.
With less than a month remaining until the 2024 Paris Olympics, elite American gymnasts have already competed for a place at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials, which took place at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
This year’s team was announced last week:
Simone Biles
Suni Lee
Jordan Chiles
Jade Carey
Hezley Rivera
Joscelyn Roberson, alternate
Leanne Wong, alternate
Team USA did not invite Olivia Dunne to the Trials since she did not meet the qualifications due to missing a large part of the year due to injuries.
Dunne told the New York Post, “I don’t think I’m going to try for the Olympics or anything after [college] since I once competed for Team USA, and I closed that chapter and went to LSU.”
She had a funny reaction to being snubbed when she took to her popular TikTok page and posted her funniest fails in a compilation video.
In the video, you can see Dunne doing a flip and hitting the ground face-first as she misses the bar. Another video showed her being stretched in a brutal way as her body ended up on top of a bar.
