With Tom Brady retired from football (presumably for good, this time), the demand for TB12 sports memor abilia is only going to grow from here.

Consider this: Brady’s touchdown pass to Mike Evans of the 2021 NFC Divisional Round game sold at auction for $518,000. Brady retired soon after the game, so the fan thought they were purchasing the final TD football of his career. After Brady announced he was un-retiring and coming back for another year, the sale was voided, so the lucky fan got their money back.

The same fate cannot be said for a fan who apparently greatly misread the market for a special and ultra-rare Brady rookie card. The card? An autographed 2000 Tom Brady Rookie Ticket PSA 10 that sold two years ago for $2.88 million.

Eric Whiteback, who goes by the title “The Collectibles Guru”, noted that Card Ladder values the Brady rookie card at $386,957.58. That means a massive loss value of nearly $2.5 million, as Whiteback noted.

The thing is, Brady memorabilia will always have a huge market. At some point down the road, this fan should be able to find someone who will pay several million dollars for the rookie card. Like all sports memorabilia and special trading cards, the Brady rookie card will only go up as time passes.

But right now, one can only wonder if the fan who bought this card is feeling an early case of buyer’s remorse. Losing just over $2.493 million isn’t fun nor easy to stomach.
