Undisputed’s Skip Bayless causes controversy with ‘overrated’ Belichick remark – and claims it was all down to Tom Brady

SKIP Bayless has divided opinions on social media with a controversial take on Bill Belichick’s success.

The Undisputed host shared his take on Thursday following the announcement that Belichick and the New England Patriots had agreed to part ways after 24 years together.

The third-winningest NFL coach of all time, Belichick leaves New England as their most successful coach to date having won six Super Bowls during his tenure at Gilette Stadium.

However, Bayless remains unconvinced that Belichick is the greatest of all time, as many believe him to be.

Instead, he believes most of New England’s success should be attributed to former quarterback, Tom Brady.

Bayless tweeted: “Belichick’s overrated “goatness” was mostly a product of Brady’s true GOATness.”

His comment drew a mixed reaction from fans on X, formerly known as Twitter.

One response read: “I mean… Skip is kinda right on this one..”

As another said: “I disagree. I think they were a good match. I don’t think either would’ve had the career they had, without the other.”

A third added: “Alright we not gonna act like some of those Pats super bowl teams weren’t carried by ELITE defenses.”

While a fourth replied: “Bill Belichick is the greatest defensive mind at Head Coach, and Tom Brady was the greatest QB and offensive mind of reading defenses.

“Sure Brady deserves most of the credit but they complemented each other nearly perfectly which was the best in NFL history.”

This followed another tweet by Bayless earlier in the day, in which he said: “Bill Belichick, the greatest head coach ever? I can’t go there. Greatest defensive mind ever? Sure.”

During Brady’s 20 seasons in New England, he started 333 regular season games, compiling a record of 219-64 alongside Belichick.

Without the legendary QB, Belichick went 85-102, as per The Athletic.
