Ex-New England Patriots star Christian Fauria has jokingly called out Tom Brady as a ‘liar’ following the NFL icon’s recent musings on his career approach.

On ‘The Pivot’ podcast, Brady reflected on his playing style compared to Patrick Mahomes’, expressing a hint of envy at the Chiefs quarterback’s joyful demeanor on the field.

Brady confessed: “What I would have changed was, ‘OK, there’s part of me that still loves … You see these young players. I see, like, Patrick [Mahomes] out there at quarterback, laughing, having fun. I’m like, ‘I used to be like that! ‘ What the hell happened to me? I just got too serious.”

However, Fauria, who caught 13 touchdowns from Brady and clinched two Super Bowl titles alongside him, isn’t buying it. Speaking on his radio show, he scoffed at the idea of Brady wishing to emulate Mahomes’ style, saying: “I think Brady is a liar. When I heard it, I was like, ‘Who’s he kidding? He can’t change. He can’t downshift. ‘This is not who he is. He’s not wired like Mahomes.

“I’ve seen him have a great time; I’ve heard him laugh and joke around. But when it came to the game, you could see it during certain passes, or where he won a game or got a first down. He’s extremely happy, he’s celebrating like a little kid, but the reality is he is just wired so differently than Mahomes. Everything about him is different.”

Fauria had his best career moments with the Patriots from 2002-05, including starting in their two Super Bowl wins. He played in the NFL from 1995 to 2007.

The difference between Brady and Mahomes isn’t just in their attitude towards the game, but also in their playing style. Mahomes, the Chiefs quarterback, has three Super Bowl titles to his name, achieved with an explosive offense that consistently aims for big plays down the field. This is a stark contrast to the long-drives fans are accustomed to seeing from Brady’s offense.

Despite these differences, comparisons between the two continue as they dominate their respective eras. Mahomes is aiming to accomplish something this season that Brady couldn’t – winning a third consecutive championship.
