Kate ‘Money’ Martin recently helped the  Las Vegas Aces Aces defeat the  Minnesota Lynx Lynx 80-66, behind a nine-point, three-rebound performance from the rookie. The former  Iowa Hawkeye has quickly turned into a rotational piece for the defending champions.

After the Aces victory, Martin was seen with a few of her former Iowa teammates like Gabbie Marshall and Jada Gyamfi. She seemed to show a smile from ear to ear from the moment she got off the bus, till the end of the game.

WNBA fans suspect that Martin’s demeanor and quality performance stemmed from her former teammates cheering her on. Martin was never predicted to make this type of impact in her rookie season.

She’s one of only four second-round picks to make the opening-day roster. Martin broke through and found a comfortable role around league superstars like Kelsey Plum and A’ja Wilson.

The 23-year-old has averaged 6.0 points and 4.3 rebounds through five games.  Las Vegas sits atop of the Western Conference standings with a 4-1 record, ranked as the No. 2 team in the WNBA behind the 6-0 Connecticut Sun.

Her transition to the league has looked quite smooth and fans believe it’s partially due to her fit with the  Aces as well as the support from former teammates like Marshall and Gyamfi.
