No wonder Taylor Swift is a gifted songwriter. The love interest of Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce has been found to be related to famous American poet Emily Dickinson, according to research done by Ancestry.
Genealogy company Ancestry has found that the “Cruel Summer” singer, whose upcoming album is titled “The Tortured Poets Department,” is related to legendary American poet Emily Dickinson, TODAY exclusively revealed March 4. They are sixth cousins, three times removed.
“Swift and Dickinson both descend from a 17th century English immigrant (Swift’s 9th great-grandfather and Dickinson’s 6th great-grandfather who was an early settler of Windsor, Connecticut),” Ancestry shared with TODAY.
It is also worth noting that the 14-time Grammy winner had mentioned Dickinson’s name back in 2022 when Swift accepted an award at Nashville Songwriters Association International for Songwriter-Artist of the Decade.
If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the Quill genre,” Swift said while accepting the award on stage.
Well, if things go well between Swift and the Chiefs’ tight end and they have a child or children of their own, then that would be another notable moment in time added to the Swift genealogy line.

And speaking of awards, Kelce just won another Super Bowl with the Chiefs at Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas against the San Francisco 49ers last February. Swift was in attendance to witness his boyfriend win another Vince Lombardi Trophy. Will there be another Chiefs Super Bowl game to watch for Swift in 2025?
