Even though her romance with Travis Kelce is going well, Taylor Swift is called tread lightly. She needs to protect her brand AND Travis Kelce at the same time.
If Travis Kelce’s actions continue to cause her problems – her brand might really suffer. If she is to protect her brand on the other hand, and drop Kelce – Kelce’s brand and even NFL will go bust.
Travis Kelce’s ‘Missteps’ Can Cause Career
An expert exclusively told DailyMail.com that the 34-year-old pop singer, who recently held hands with the NFL player, 34, during a Sydney zoo date, must keep the relationship on track after Travis’ “recent missteps.”
“Taylor has an enormous reservoir of goodwill, and indeed, adoration, that can well withstand behavioral and reputational missteps by her boyfriend,” said brand strategist and messaging advisor, Adam Hanft.
It can be recalled that ever since the Super Bowl, some antics by Travis Kelce were rubbing Swifties the wrong way.
“What will matter is the extent to which he stays on the straight and narrow – and doesn’t embarrass himself or her – and related to that, how she deals with it should be become a persistent problem,” he also warned.
The expert added that “if Travis has impulse control issues and refuses to take a backseat to her celebrity – which is programmatic given that football heroes are usually in contention for the Nobel Prize for Testosterone – and she dumps him, his personal brand will be battered,” Hanft said.
Travis is under fire for nearly fighting with his coach Andy Reid during the Super Bowl. Travis was furious when Reid removed him from a play after the Kansas City Chiefs offense sputtered in the first half.
His push knocked Reid, 65, off balance. The player grabbed Reid’s left arm while yelling in his face, appearing to support him. Kelce was pulled away by a teammate.
Fans criticized the aggressive approach, but Travis calmly noted Reid’s impact on his career after the game to show there’s no bad blood between them.
Taylor Swift Beware?
A few days later, Travis’ thoughtless partying following a mass massacre at his Super Bowl parade infuriated the public even more.
Travis visited ‘Granfalloon Restaurant and Bar’ hours after 22 fans were shot, nine of them were youngsters and a young mother was killed.
He took pictures with police while holding an open beer bottle on the street, having earlier appeared too inebriated to speak on the parade stage.
Social media outraged followers called him the “caveman” and a “douchebag,” unworthy to be with Taylor Swift.
Later, Kelce matched Taylor’s $100,000 donation to shooting victims but did nothing to erase the ire of Swifties.
If Swift needs to protect her career though, and let Kelce’s suffer as a result…there’s a compelling reason to do so.
According to Bloomberg, Swift is one of the few billionaires who became wealthy through music and performing.
Her fortune comes from her huge discography, five homes, and streaming deals, song sales, concert tickets, and merchandising, according to publicly reported and traceable assets and revenues.
