Brittney Griner had fans on social media saying all sorts of things after she revealed what she wanted to be called following the birth of her son.
The Phoenix Mercury center and her wife, Cherelle, have welcomed a baby boy named Bash ahead of her trip to France for the Olympic Games. She made the revelation while speaking to CBS Sports ahead of the WNBA’s All-Star events on Friday night.
“I guess I’ll just drop that he’s here,” she said.
“That’s my man. He is amazing. They said as soon as you see them, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window. That’s literally what happened.”
Griner’s interviewer referred to her as a mom prior to that, but she was corrected, with the WNBA star letting her know she’s “Pops.”

Fans Kicked Brittney Griner Out Of The WNBA After Seeing The Above
Some fans felt like Brittney Griner should not be allowed to play WNBA basketball if she’s going to go by “Pops.”
“Wait…she should def be fired from the WNBA then…” one remarked.
“How does he get away with it? You just have to say your a female then the WNBA lets you play? Ridiculous,” said another.
“Pops? Transwhat? So if he/she is now pops doesnt that mean he/she cant play in the @WNBA?” a third commented.
“I am very confused,” another fan admitted.
“Griner’s not even trying to be a woman anymore ,” someone joked.
Griner will also be part of the female contingent that flies to Paris, France, to represent the United States at the Summer Olympics. Team USA will play its opening game against Germany next week.
Fans might not want her to do that either.
