The surprisingly chipper actor eventually made his way over to Garner, who was in equally good spirits.
The pair, who were married from 2005 to 2018, seemed to have an impassioned conversation for nearly half an hour before hugging one another goodbye.
The Oscar winner left with their three kids as Garner, 51, went on her own to do a little window shopping.
The “13 Going on 30” actress, who looked casual in a striped shirt, was photographed inside a bookstore before grabbing a bite to eat.
While it’s unclear how long Garner had been in Europe without Affleck, the mother of three was spotted in Malibu with her kids last week.
The foursome was photographed enjoying brunch at Soho House on July 23 — the same weekend that Affleck threw Lopez an over-the-top birthday party in their new $60 million Beverly Hills mansion.
In fact, the “On the Floor” songstress revealed earlier this week that Affleck’s three children, as well as her own kids, were all in attendance for the birthday bash.
“All the kids were there, it was a gorgeous day full of sunshine and perfect for a pool party!!” she wrote in the July 31 edition of her “On The JLo” newsletter.
The lavish gathering featured massive bouquets of pink flowers, overflowing charcuterie boards and lots of dancing — including on tables.
Lopez — who shares 15-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with ex Marc Anthony — and Affleck have put a lot of effort into blending their families, which hasn’t been easy with so many teenagers under one roof.
