Caitlin Clark’s dazzling court entrance sets tone for WNBA debut with unique flair
The Indiana Fever were the visiting team against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night, but Caitlin Clark seemed to be playing right at home with the support of the crowd.
The WNBA rookie was all smiles during warmups ahead of her official league debut.
Clark shows off rapport with Fever teammates
Thousands of fans packed Mohegan Arena to get a glimpse of the star for the first sold-out game of the season.
In a clever moment under the spotlight, when Clark was introduced as a Fever starter, the 22-year-old played a hand of “rock, paper, scissors”, showcasing her good nature and fun relationship with her teammates.
Indiana Fever have long road ahead
The Fever, who have been struggling during recent years in the WNBA, are hoping that the arrival of Clark will catapult them into a prominent spot in the league rankings.
Indiana hasn’t made the playoffs since 2016, and their only WNBA title came in 2012, so they are in dire need of a strong season, especially now that the nation’s eyes are on the team.
Clark is expected to continue her stand-out performances with the Fever, not only showcasing her 3-point skills, but giving her teammates equal opportunity to shine.
Her teammate, NaLyssa Smith, has high hopes for the team success, telling the media recently that “Everybody’s gonna have to be guarded and respected this year I think, and that’s gonna be the great part about us. Everybody can score, whether you’re at the one through the five, everybody can score the ball and it’s going to open up a little bit for me and [Aliyah Boston] because we have so many great shooters on the outside.”
