REVEALED: Why Caitlin Clark SKIPPED media duties with Indiana Fever – despite leading her team to stunning win over Phoenix Mercury.

Caitlin Clark was a suffering with a migraine throughout Indiana Fever’s victory over Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.

The 22-year-old made more history over the weekend, racking up her 138th assist for the season – a new franchise record for a rookie.

But Clark was subbed out late on in the game and the WNBA star then skipped her media duties following the 88-82 win.

Afterwards, Christie Sides revealed that Clark had been feeling unwell all throughout the game, even as she amassed 15 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds.

When asked why she took Clark out of the game, the Fever coach insisted it was a tactical decision. ‘I thought I needed a defensive group – we needed to make sure we got stops. That was what it was about,’ she said.

She was the third highest scorer on the team in their 88-82 win over Phoenix – who boasts the likes of WNBA legends Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner.

Clark logged 39 minutes and came just one rebound short of becoming the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double.

Taurasi, who once warned that Clark would need to be ready for a tough transition into the league, praised the rookie for how she’s handled the new level of competition.

‘It’s amazing what Caitlin has been able to do in her short career so far. It’s just been nothing short or remarkable. The one thing that I really love about her, she loves the game.

‘You can tell she put the work in. Even throughout her short WNBA career, it’s been a lot of pressure, a lot of things thrown at her. She keeps showing up and keeps getting better every single game.

‘Her future is super bright. Being a veteran and being in the seat for a long, long time, it’s pretty cool to see that and going into the future.’
