The speculation over Tom Brady possibly unretiring (again) and joining the Miami Dolphins is intensifying, with another insider making claims regarding a potential return.
Rumors of Brady making a second retirement U-turn kicked off right after he announced his decision last month, but they’ve really picked up since Rich Eisen said he heard the former quarterback might not be done.
“The one place that folks are saying keep an eye out for is Miami,” Eisen added.
Brady was said to have had plans on moving to Miami before the 2022 season but the Brian Flores lawsuit ended up in the way. He was linked to the Dolphins again after the Buccaneers were made to exit the playoffs, with the San Francisco 49ers also thought to be a possibility. But the 45-year-old announced his retirement instead.
Eisen isn’t the only insider to have heard talk among sources in the know claiming that the seven-time Super Bowl winner could sign with Miami. Colin Cowherd has since reported that FOX doesn’t expect Brady to join them anytime soon because he still wants to play.
New England Patriots broadcaster Scott Zolak has added fuel to the flames, saying the move is actually “in play” despite Brady insisting he’s too busy with his new kittens
“Brady may go to Miami. I think that’s in play. I do. I think the possibility of him coming out of retirement is definitely 100 percent in play. You can sit there and look at the kitten tweet from yesterday. Don’t buy that,” Zolak said via NBC Sports Boston.
He added:
This isn’t me saying it. This isn’t someone close to Brady. It started with Rich Eisen. Eisen’s at the Super Bowl. Multiple people dropped the hints. Colin Cowherd, he knows some Fox people. I don’t think he’s gonna call games,” Zolak said.
How does that deal get done? How do you sign a guy to that $375 million, 10-year contract to call games, he’s not even gonna do it next year. I know his handlers have moved to Miami. It’s built for him. He’s looking at private schools for his kids. Cowherd talks about the San Francisco offense. He’s not talking about San Francisco. He’s talking about Mike McDaniel in Miami.
For now, Brady is still very much retired. Whether or not he decides to abandon the felines for another run at a Super Bowl remains to be seen.
