REPORT: Details Emerge From Private Meeting Between Tom Brady & Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick

Since Tom Brady’s departure from the New England Patriots in March 2020, fans and prognosticators have speculated about his relationship with head coach Bill Belichick.

Though they’re the greatest player-head coach duo in NFL history, multiple reports over the years have indicated that Brady grew fed up and tired of Belichick’s tight ship and stern personality. With Brady now retired, however, it looks like the two NFL icon are back on the same page.

According to a report from Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald (h/t Daniel Bates of The Spun), Brady and Belichick met for 20 minutes after the Patriots’ season opener (a 25-20 loss) against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Minutes after concluding his post-game press conference last Sunday, Bill Belichick ducked into an adjacent hallway that separates the team’s auditorium from its locker room. He spotted a familiar face: Tom Brady.

According to sources, Belichick and Brady spoke alone for more than 20 minutes after the Patriots’ 25-20 loss to the Eagles. Standing in the hall, Belichick and Brady blocked a path players and staffers often take out of the facility after games. Several members of the organization spotted them, but anyone who came close to encroaching was redirected to take a scenic route out of the building.”

Brady was honored by the Patriots at halftime of the home opener. During the ceremony, owner Robert Kraft revealed that Brady would be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame next year instead of having to go through the traditional four-year waiting period.

The 46-year-old Brady was drafted 199th overall by the Patriots in 2000. At the time, nobody could have though that the Pats had just selected a future seven-time Super Bowl Champion, three-time league MVP as well as the all-time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns.

Regardless of any potential tension and hard feelings between the two, it’s simply time to move forward now. Brady and Belichick needed each other to help the Patriots to six Super Bowl championships. They simply aren’t the legends they are today without the other.
