Patrick Mahomes ‘Similar’ to Tom Brady? Chiefs Staffer Reveals ‘Knack’

It’s no secret that if anyone’s going to catch Tom Brady, it’s Patrick Mahomes, but the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback doesn’t necessarily need Super Bowl rings to draw comparisons to the most-accomplished NFL player of all time.

Per reports from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, one Chiefs staffer compared Mahomes to Brady after the way the Kansas City star handled things with the media when asked about the controversy surrounding kicker Harrison Butker.

“Pat’s similar to [Tom] Brady in that way,” said one veteran staffer, per Breer. “He’s just got a knack for saying all the right things, and things that never cause any division in the locker room.”

Here’s some of what Mahomes had to say when asked about Butker, who made controversial comments at a college commencement speech earlier this month:

“There are certain things he said that I don’t necessarily agree with,” Mahomes said. “But I understand the person that he is, and he’s trying to do whatever he can to lead people in the right direction. It might not be the same values that I have. But at the same time, I’m gonna judge him by the character that he shows every single day. And that’s a great person, and we’ll continue to move along and try to help build each other up to make ourselves better every single day.”

Mahomes is already one ring shy of being over halfway toward Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings. Considering how he continues to handle himself as a leader while remaining dominant on the field, it’s going to be harder to doubt that the 28-year-old won’t someday catch the GOAT.
