Kevin Hart and Katt Williams

Comedians Katt Williams and Kevin Hart have reignited their lengthy feud after Williams’ controversial appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast.

The ongoing drama between the comedians took a new turn last week when Williams’ interview on “Club Shay Shay” went viral. During the nearly three-hour episode, Williams wasted no time launching shots at many of his peers like Steve Harvey, Michael Blackson, Rickey Smiley, and Cedric the Entertainer.

Williams also aimed at Hart by suggesting he’s an industry plant who made false claims about the beginning of his career.

The pair have traded barbs over the years, squabbling online and in interviews — take a look at their yearslong feud.

August 2014: Williams swiped at Hart while criticizing athletes like Shaquille O’Neal who attempt comedy.

One of the earliest examples of the pair’s squabble happened in August 2014 when Williams spoke to TMZ Sports. When asked who he thought was the “funniest athlete,” Williams didn’t hold back.

“I think that Shaq and Russell Simmons should get out of comedy and stay in their lane,” Williams said. “They don’t see us making a league of professional basketball players under six foot, so what qualifies these dudes?”

Williams then called Shaquille O’Neal a “bum” and looped Hart into his remarks.

“Get out of here, you bum, before I take the rest of your girls like you took Kevin Hart from me,” Williams said. “I want my bitch back.”

February 2016: Williams referred to Hart as a “puppet” during a comedy tour stop in Atlanta.

According to Vibe, Williams was on the road for his Conspiracy Theory tour in February 2016 when he mentioned Hart during a stop at the Philips Arena in Atlanta.

“I’ve already proven that if the best they got in comedy is Kevin Hart — don’t you boo a black man working hard, baby,” Williams said. “Even if that nigga’s a puppet, it’s not his fault. We don’t get mad.”

He added: “Just because I’m better than some black dudes, doesn’t mean I’m better than no black dudes. I’m saying if you want to be mad at Kermit The Frog, don’t be mad at Kermit The Frog, be mad at Jim Henson. Don’t say, ‘Fuckk Donald Duck’ when you really mean, ‘Fuck Walt Disney.’”

The outlet reported that Hart responded with a subtle reply via Instagram. At the time, Hart shared a photo of him, Dave Chapelle, and Chris Rock at the 2016 Academy Awards.

“True professionals understand the importance of sticking together & supporting one another
.at the end of the day we are comedians & there aren’t many that make it to level that we have made it,” Hart wrote.

March 2016: Williams challenged Hart to a $5 million challenge ahead of a tour stop in Philadelphia.

According to Vibe, Williams took another jab at Hart in March 2016 ahead of the Conspiracy Theory tour’s stop in Philadelphia — Hart’s hometown.

“I seen your stuff on social media. I know what you do, but you do it for play-play. If you do for real, here it is, Kevin,” Williams said in a video shared by HipHop DX. “I got a show at your hometown, in Philly; I’m going to tape my special there. On that sage, we can put whatever you want: a full-court basketball court, a boxing ring, two microphones for a rap cypher, or you can get your ass dusted in comedy on that stage,” he added.

Williams added that the bet should be set at $5 million.

“Mr. $28 million in Forbes. I’ll be bringing mine in cash, Mitch. Bring yours however you want. And since you not a puppet, don’t bring no white people with you then,” Williams said.

March 2016: Williams publicly apologized to Hart during a radio show interview.

During a March 2016 appearance on V-103 Atlanta’s “The Big Tigger Show,” Williams issued an apology to Hart for comments he made during his comedy tour stop in Philadelphia.

“I should have never mentioned Kevin Hart’s name. He is the reigning King of Comedy if you ask for popular consensus,” Williams said. “The fact that he’s a Black male like me and the fact that I attacked him with such vitriol at a time when our country is already divided in every way it could be divided.”

Williams told the host that it was “regrettable” that he attempted to “embarrass” Hart during his set.

“I humbly apologize to not only Kevin Hart, but Hartbeat productions, the Plastic Cup Boyz, and anyone associated with Kevin Hart. That was a mistake on my part,” he added.

September 2018: Williams criticized Tiffany Haddish, prompting Hart to blast Williams on “The Breakfast Club.”

The next major point in Hart and Williams’ saga happened in September 2018 on V-103’s “Frank and Wanda In The Morning.” Williams slammed Tiffany Haddish during the interview by questioning her comedic ability and whether she could pull crowds for a major tour.

That same month, Hart defended Haddish during an appearance on “The Breakfast Club.” At the time, he and Haddish were promoting their film “Night School.”

“My frustration with Katt Williams comes from, you keep pointing at Hollywood, ‘Hollywood and the white man, this, this, and this,’ when do you take responsibility for your actions? You had the shot! You were the guy!” Hart said.

Hart then suggested that studios stopped working with Williams over drug use.

“You were set up to be the star. You didn’t show up to work,” Hart said.

He added: “Have you ever used your platform to fucking bring the people under you up? You haven’t. So, because you haven’t, don’t shit on those who now are.”

September 2021: Williams said a comedy-style versus battle between him and Hart would be “cheating.”

According to Revolt, Williams told Baltimore radio personality Persia Nicole in September 2021 that he would beat Hart in a comedy battle.

“It’s almost cheating for me. I have over 10 specials. I don’t have to pick but two jokes from each special and I’ve already deaded anyone whose last name isn’t Pryor anyway,” Williams said. “We don’t wanna add 52 movies, we certainly don’t wanna add 11 specials, we certainly don’t wanna add 49 television appearances, we don’t wanna add an Emmy.”

Williams added, “It’s almost a battle we can’t really afford to be in
It probably don’t match up the way you think it match up.”

January 2024: Williams lambasted Hart during the latest episode of Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, “Club Shay Shay.”

Williams criticized several comedians in the January 3 podcast episode, including Hart, who he suggested was an industry plant.

“In fifteen years in Hollywood, no one in Hollywood has a memory of going to a sold-out Kevin Hart show, there being a line for him, [him] ever getting a standing ovation at any comedy club,” Williams said.

“He already had his deals when he got here. Have we heard of a comedian that came to LA, and in his first year in LA, he had his own sitcom on network television? And had his own movie called ‘Soul Plane’ that he was leading? No, we’ve never heard of that before that person or since that person,” he continued.

January 2024: Hart issued a back-to-back response to Williams’ digs.

Hart made a brief response on X, formerly known as Twitter, following Williams’ comments on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast.

“Gotta get that anger up outcha champ
. It’s honestly sad,” Hart wrote on January 4.

One day later, he appeared on ESPN’s “NBA Unplugged” where he mocked Williams. At one point, Hart joked about claims Williams made during the interview, including that he read 3,000 books a year between the ages of eight and 12.

“At the age of seven, he got accepted to
I think it was Delaware University,” Hart said. “Never made public news. Biggest secret in the world. Smartest kid to ever do it and they kept it a secret for 48 years,” Hart continued.
