Katt Williams Expose How Diddy Force Out Kriss Kross From Hollywood-lh

The Troubling Tale of Kris Kross: From Stardom to Scandal.

Kris Kross, the dynamic rap duo from Atlanta, Georgia, burst onto the music scene in the early ’90s. Comprised of Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly and Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith, their rise to fame was meteoric.

Discovered by legendary producer Jermaine Dupri at Greenbriar Mall in 1991, the duo quickly signed to his So So Def label. Their debut album, *Totally Krossed Out*, released in 1992, sold over four million copies and featured the iconic hit “Jump,” which dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks. The duo’s trademark of wearing their clothes backward became a cultural phenomenon.

Following their debut, Kris Kross released their second album, *Da Bomb*, in 1993, which went platinum and demonstrated their artistic evolution. Hits like “Alright” and “I’m Real” showcased their ability to maintain relevance.

Their third and final studio album, *Young, Rich & Dangerous*, released in 1996, signaled a more mature sound and went gold, proving their staying power in the industry.

Despite their early success, Kris Kross faced significant challenges as the music scene evolved. The novelty of their backward clothes wore off, and their voices matured, making it difficult to maintain their distinctive sound.

Internal disagreements and external pressures led to creative struggles, and they eventually split up. Their attempt at a comeback in 2013 for the 20th anniversary of So So Def was brief, leaving fans nostalgic but without a permanent return.

Chris Kelly’s later years were marked by personal battles, particularly with drug addiction. In 2013, he was found unresponsive at his home and later pronounced dead from a suspected overdose at the age of 34.

His death highlighted the darker side of fame and the pressures that come with it. Reports suggested that Kelly had mixed cocaine and heroin, a deadly combination that ultimately led to his demise.

Complicating the narrative of Kris Kross’s legacy are allegations from comedian Cat Williams. In a video, Williams accused Jermaine Dupri and Sean “Diddy” Combs of engaging in inappropriate activities with young male artists, including Kris Kross.

He implied that the trauma from these experiences contributed to Kelly’s struggles and eventual overdose. These claims, though sensational, have not been substantiated with concrete evidence.

Jermaine Dupri has denied any wrongdoing. In interviews, he expressed deep sorrow over Kelly’s passing, describing him as a son. Despite rumors and accusations, there has been no definitive proof linking Dupri to any misconduct involving Kris Kross.

The story of Kris Kross is one of early success followed by personal and professional challenges. While their impact on ’90s hip-hop is undeniable, the darker aspects of their journey, particularly Chris Kelly’s tragic end and the swirling allegations, add a layer of complexity to their legacy. As the music industry continues to evolve, the tale of Kris Kross serves as a reminder of both the potential and pitfalls of early fame.
