Jennifer Garner might have given up Ben Affleck’s surname in 2018, but she has failed to get him out of her life after seemingly committing herself to managing his own personal problems, including his marriage to another woman some six years later.
Garner spent 13 years in total with the Batman star, but since they called time on their relationship with each other, she has been left trying to clean up his addiction, rehab, relapse and romance issues despite Affleck being half a century old.
But with his second attempt at love with Jennifer Lopez, after they reignited their romance through the Covid-19 pandemic, it seemed as though that would set the Pearl Harbor actor back on the straight and narrow, and it did… for a little while.
Now there are murmurings of divorce and discontentment, arguing and limited public appearances together and it’s on Garner, once again, to rush in and try to salvage some happiness for her ex-man.
The pair were spotted in public together as they dropped off their 12-year-old son for the final day of his school semester before he gets a summer break as Affleck looked worse for wear, appearing to be suffering hair loss and weight loss.
And now her dedication to Affleck, even if it is platonic and for the interests of their children, might be beginning to bite Garner back as her long-term boyfriend is far from happy that he plays such a central role in her life.
“Of course it bothers John [Miller] that Jen is so hyper focused on her ex-husband,” a source told the Daily Mail. “He sympathizes with what [Affleck] is going through with [Lopez].
“But that doesn’t mean Jen should be the one to fix her ex-husband’s issues with his current wife. That makes no sense to anyone.”
Garner saved his movie
The 52-year-old mother of his three children has even stood by him when he attempted to blame her for the cause of his alcohol dependency, meanwhile she was busy trying to save one of his movies at the same time.
“Part of why I started drinking was because I was trapped,” Affleck told Howard Stern in 2021. “I was like, ‘I can’t leave because of my kids, but I’m not happy. What do I do?’ And what I did was [I] drank a bottle of scotch and fell asleep on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution.”
Whilst just months earlier she had called up the director of The Way Back and told him Affleck took a basketball with him to rehab as she begged him not to cancel the movie because of how important it was to her ex-husband.
But then came his second attempt at love with Jennifer Lopez, after they reignited their romance through the Covid-19 pandemic. It seemed as though that would set the Pearl Harbor actor back on the straight and narrow, and it did… For a little while.
