Edelman was asked by comedian Bert Kreischer why he lived in Los Angeles, to which he replied with a story about staying on Brady’s couch.
The Patriots wide receiver said he was couch-surfing around the city when he got a call from Brady’s manager, Ben Rawitz.
Rawitz was living in Brady’s newly completed mansion in Brentwood while the quarterback and his ex-wife Gisele Bundchen finished their lease on another home.
The house Brady built was massive at 22,000 square feet with eight bedrooms, and Rawitz told Edelman to come stay in it.
“Rawitz, we were friends. He goes ‘Yo, come live in Brady’s other house with me. Just don’t tell him you’re here,’” Edelman said.
“That house was on the way to the other house. So like he would come in and I’d have to hide and I just had a lot of great memories.”
Edelman explained he was staying in Los Angeles in an attempt to practice with Brady early in his career, which didn’t work out well at the time.
“At that time, he really wasn’t calling me,” Edelman said.
Things ended up working out fine for Edelman, as he is now best friends with Brady.
The two won three Super Bowls together and Edelman won Super Bowl MVP in 2019.
Edelman racked up 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns in his 11-year career with the Patriots.
He also made a name for himself as a return man, returning kickoffs and punts for most of his career.
Today, Edelman serves as an analyst for Fox NFL with his long-time teammate Rob Gronkowski.
Brady will be joining them next year as the lead analyst for football broadcasts.
