Fever Coach Christie Sides UNDER FIRE for Playing DEFENSE on Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Career.-lh

Alright, Black and White Sports supporters, we’re going to discuss Caitlin Clark and, more specifically, what’s going on with Indiana Fever head coach Christy Sides. There are serious questions about how she is utilizing Caitlin Clark, the greatest scorer in college basketball history. Why isn’t she scheming to get Clark more field goal attempts? It’s baffling.

I’ve reviewed some games, and two stand out where Clark definitely should have had more opportunities. In only one game all season has she received the kind of looks she deserves. By looks, I mean field goal shots. I don’t understand Christy Sides’ approach to these field goal attempts.

Consider the headline: Fever Coach Christy Sides Destroys the Greatest Basketball Scorer of All Time, Takes Down Caitlin Clark and the WNBA in Seven Games. Bravo, Christy. Bravo. People are starting to call this out. The Fever coach has never had a winning record and finished dead last in the WNBA. Now, her goal seems to be not only to undermine Caitlin Clark and her team but also to single-handedly ruin the WNBA’s chance to become a profitable sports league, and it only took seven games.

On Saturday night, after the Indiana Fever’s first win of the year on Friday night, Coach Sides finally put Clark in her place. The greatest scorer of all time took only eight shots the entire game. Christy was pleased. She wants to remake Caitlin into a two-point shooter. Are you mental? I can’t imagine this. Christy knows what’s best for Caitlin, the game, and the league.

Fans have noticed. They saw Clark lead an eight-point run against the Storm to tie it up, only for Sides to bench her, leading to a seven-point deficit. Fans are asking why Caitlin was benched with five minutes left. Christy Sides has to answer for these decisions.

Looking at Caitlin Clark’s game log this year, her field goal attempts are way too low. Eight attempts, eleven attempts, eight attempts – that’s not nearly enough. She needs 12 to 20 attempts per game, ideally 14 to 22. Caitlin Clark is an all-around basketball player, with multiple games of six or more assists and rebounds. Her shooting percentage is excellent, often hitting 100% from the free-throw line.

Let’s compare with Asia Wilson: 18 field goal attempts, 29 points; 20 field goal attempts, 21 points; and so on. This is the approach needed for Caitlin Clark. In college, she averaged 20 shots a game. As a three-point shooter, she needs to get into a rhythm. Missing six in a row might lead to hitting five in a row from three-point range, changing the game’s outcome.

Steph Curry, whom I’ve compared her to, takes 17.9 shots a game. Luka Dončić takes 20.7. Christy Sides needs to draw up plays for Caitlin Clark, getting her to the basket and ensuring she takes 15 to 22 shots per game. Without enough attempts, Clark’s potential will be unrealized, and the WNBA won’t reach its business potential.

If Christy Sides doesn’t adjust, Caitlin Clark will remain stuck at slightly above average. The offense must go through her. At times, it seems like her teammates ice her out, not passing her the ball. However, in the games she won against the Sparks and had good involvement against the Liberty, she made a significant impact.
