We also have some commentary about Caitlin Clark’s coach, Christy Sides. I made a video last night discussing Sides and how there’s no way Caitlin Clark should ever take fewer than 15 shots a game. Preferably, I’d like to see her in the 18 to 22 field goal attempts per game range, similar to players like Luka Dončić or Steph Curry. This nonsense about her being a two-point shooter is ridiculous. If I’m Herb Simon, the owner of the Pacers and the Fever, I’m calling Christy Sides into my office and telling her I won’t let her screw up this basketball player.
There’s a clip here that reiterates a lot of what I discussed in last night’s video, with some additional nonsense. Barstool Sports wrote an article highlighting something going on here. Ohio’s Tate wrote the article, mentioning that this coach is telling the previous number one overall picks in the draft to shout one after making a shot, two after the next, all the way up to ten, like it’s second-grade gym class. This kind of elementary drill is absurd for professional players and could end up failing Caitlin Clark and the team.
The Indiana Fever plays today against the Sparks. They have a chance to win, but the marketing team put Grace Berger on the promotional material instead of Caitlin Clark. Clark is the cash cow of the league and should be featured prominently. It’s wild that the league isn’t using her more in promotional materials, almost as if it doesn’t want to stand on its own and continues to rely on NBA subsidies.
CBS Sports recently released a WNBA rookie ranking with Caitlin Clark at number one, where she belongs. Her stats are impressive: 15.4 points per game, 6.3 assists per game, and 5.4 rebounds per game. Isabelle Gonzalez, who did these rankings, noted Clark’s ability to contribute in various ways, even when her shots aren’t falling. Clark almost got her first WNBA triple-double in the Fever’s win over the Sparks, showing her all-around gam
