- Angel Reese ‘throttles’ Hayley Frank in controversial decision in LSU win
- LSU open Southeastern Conference play with big win over Missouri
The game between LSU and Missouri was overshadowed by a violent incident involving Angel Reese and Hayley Frank. In their latest NCAA game, which LSU won 92-72 thanks primarily to an impressive third quarter, Reese was accused of ‘throttling’ her opposition player.
There was not one but two incidents between Reese and Frank. In the first, Frank was flattened by the LSU player with just over a minute left on the clock in the first quarter. The second instance happened in the third quarter when Reese’s team scored to increase their lead to 11 points. As teammate Williams fired off a shot, Reese grabbed Frank around the neck before appearing to aggressively pull her to the floor.
The second time round, Reese was indeed pulled up for the foul- a decision that coach Mulkey evidently didn’t agree with.
The internet reacts
The internet has now had its say in the aftermath of the incident. X was overwhelmed with opinions in response to the action, with many calling out Reese for ‘ugly’ foul play
“Angel Reese with her best Draymond (Green) impression lol,” wrote one user. For those who aren’t aware, the Golden State Warriors player has been sanctioned on several occasions this season for ‘violent conduct’. He’s been under fire for his behavior, with both pundits, players and fans growing tired of his outbursts.
Before the New Year Reese was also surrounded in controversy after ‘disappearing’ from the team in mysterious circumstances. There’s been some speculation that her latest outburst may have been linked in some way to that.
It remains to be seen if Reese will be sanctioned, but if Green is anything to go by, she’ll will likely receive some sort of punishment.
