Things with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez may be rocky (we’re skeptical), but Affleck and ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s co-parenting relationship seems to be as strong as ever. The two were spotted reuniting in Santa Monica for their 12-year-old son Samuel’s last day of school, and they were all smiles. Especially the 13 Going on 30 actress, who seemed to be so happy to also reconnect with her former mother-in-law, Chris Anne Bolt.
As the three hugged and laughed, it showed us once again that Ben and the O.G. Jen have an incredibly amicable and admirable co-parenting relationship. They’re often seen coming together for Samuel’s basketball games and other events for their daughters Seraphina, 15 and Violet, 18.
Meanwhile, J. Lo—who did join her allegedly-estranged husband to see her stepdaughter’s school performance last month – did not come to Samuel’s school. She was out with her 16-year-old, Emme, who she shares (along with Emme’s twin brother Max) with ex Marc Anthony. The singer and the teen were seen shopping at a Sephora in Beverly Hills.

It’s hard to say what Lopez and Garner’s relationship has been like since speculation about the split began last month. Before reports of trouble in paradise began, insiders had insisted that the Jens were great co-parents.
This time last year, an insider said the singer and the actress were on the same page about raising their kids. A source told Entertainment Tonight that Lopez and Garner “are very cordial and they have a very healthy and functioning relationship” – all with the goal of making things as easy on the kids as possible.
Earlier this year, a source told Us Weekly that the moms “communicate rather frequently” about the kids and scheduling plans. “They know the ones who benefit the most are the children and that’s all they care about,” the source said. “They have a mutual respect for each other as parents and know how well all their kids get along. They want to foster and nurture those relationships and will do whatever it takes to show their support.”
If the Argo actor and the “Jenny from the Block” singer do call it quits, we hope they and Garner can continue to support relationships among the five kids — especially Emme and Seraphina, who seem to have gotten especially close.
