Becky Hammon Described Kate Martin With Two Words After Her Concerning Injury.
Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin was helped of the court during the first half of Tuesday night’s matchup against the Chicago Sky after she suffered a concerning injury to her right ankle.
Martin returned to the bench for the second half, but was ruled OUT for the remainder of the game.
After the Aces fell to the Sky 93-85, Las Vegas head coach Becky Hammon was asked to provide an update on Martin’s injury status.
Hammon didn’t provide any additional information, but she did describe Martin as “freaking tough.”
“I know she’s freaking tough,” Hammon said. “I don’t know how bad it is, but she’s a tough cookie. For her to not come back, I’m hoping for the best.”
Fortunately for Martin and the Aces, Tuesday night’s game against the Sky was their final contest before the WNBA’s month-long break for the 2024 All-Star Game and Paris Olympics. Depending on the severity of her injury, the former Iowa star could be ready for action when the Aces take the court again in August.
