Dawn Staley sat courtside to watch three former Gamecocks play in WNBA on Tuesday night
South Carolina women’s basketball coaches Dawn Staley and Lisa Boyer took advantage of the short drive to Georgia and watched former players Kamilla Cardoso, Allisha Gray, and Laeticia Amihere on Tuesday night, as the Chicago Sky defeated the Atlanta Dream 85-77 in the WNBA game.
Staley and Boyer sat courtside, and neither wore a jersey or shirt specific to one team. Staley donned a Chanel visor. Amihere and Cardoso were seen hugging the two after the game, and Boyer handed each of them goodie bags of candy.
Tuesday was a big day for other former Gamecocks in the WNBA, Amihere and Gray included. Amihere was named to the Canadian women’s basketball Olympic team, which will compete against A’ja Wilson in Paris later this month. Gray, along with Aliyah Boston, was named to the 2024 WNBA All-Star team.
After the Sky’s win, Staley visited Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon, whom Staley used to guard when both played in the WNBA. The two took a picture shortly before Weatherspoon said “post this right here, love this one, appreciate you Dawn.”
