During the short time Tom Brady was retired, he no doubt received plenty of congratulatory gifts. Even NFL legend Peyton Manning sent him a few.

The former NFL quarterback sent Brady a bottle of wine and hand-written note when Brady retired. Well, Brady has since un-retired. Talk about awkward.

It’s kind of like when an engaged couple has a wedding registry, you buy them something and then they call off the wedding a few days before. You’d definitely want your money back, right? That’s how Manning feels.

Speaking at an event hosted by The Mint Collective, Manning jokingly requested Brady return the gifts he sent him.

“I want the letter back,” Manning said. “You got to read all these nice things. I want it back. I want the bottle of wine back, too.”

As expected, NFL fans are loving Peyton Manning’s request for Tom Brady:

We’re sure Tom Brady will make it up to him. Perhaps the two will soon get in a round of golf. Brady’s buying, of course.

What do you think? Should Tom Brady give back the bottle of wine – assuming he hasn’t downed it already – and the handwritten note? The gifts were meant for retirement, after all.

We’re just hoping Brady is as classy as Manning is and makes it up to him.
