There will be no more talk about what Tom Brady will do this offseason after he made that decision quickly. The seven-time Super Bowl champion who holds every major NFL passing record announced in an emotional beach-side video, he was “retiring for good.”
Tom Brady is generally regarded as the greatest quarterback of all-time.
Longtime New York radio host Mike Francesa, however, explained on ESPN’s First Take that Brady is not the best regular season or Super Bowl QB.
“Now, I’m going to throw a little oil on the ceremony. He [Brady] is not the best regular season quarterback I’ve ever seen. Peyton Manning was. He’s not the best Super Bowl quarterback who ever lived, Joe Montana is,” Francesa said. “What he is though, is the guy who played the longest and he won the most games. He won the most Super Bowls, so he will be remembered because nobody is going to play 23 years and nobody is probably ever going to have a chance to win that many Super Bowls.”
This past season, the Bucs QB led his team to the playoffs even as the team was dealt with a ton of injuries and finished with an 8-9 record. He finished the 2022 season with 4,694 passing yards and 25 touchdown passes.
Last season Brady also retired but would return back to the Bucs in 40 days.
That comeback seemingly paved the way for his marriage to fall apart as he and Gisele divorced in October.
The sixth-round draft pick out of Michigan, who was thrust into the starting role after Drew Bledsoe went down with an injury in 2001, played all the way until age 45.
