Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez had a humorous joke about Tom Brady, who will soon become his colleague at FOX Sports.

Last year, Brady and FOX agreed to a lucrative 10-year contract worth $375 million that will see him serve as the network’s top NFL analyst alongside the No. 1 commentary team of Kevin Burkhardt and sideline reporter Erin Andrews.

Sanchez, who also works for FOX, had a funny tease about how Brady once again “ruined” his career during an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” (h/t Awful Announcing):

“I guess thanks for ruining the trajectory of my career for the second time, Tom. I get drafted to the guy’s division. Now he’s gotta come to Fox and ruin everything here. I can’t get away from the guy.

“Hopefully he doesn’t get too annoyed with the hazing we put them through as rookies here at Fox. Hopefully, it doesn’t get too annoying for him.”

Sanchez’s NFL career got off to a promising start. He helped the New York Jets to consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances in 2009 and 2010. This included a stunning win against Brady and the top-seeded New England Patriots in the 2010 AFC Divisional Round, where Sanchez tossed three touchdown passes.

The USC product won three of his first five games against Brady’s Patriots, only to lose the next four (remember the Butt Fumble?!). Sanchez lost his starting job to rookie Geno Smith in the 2013 season and spent the remainder of his career from there as a backup.

Sanchez retired from football after the 2018 season.
