aitlin Clark scored a season-high 30 points during the Indiana Fever’s 88-82 home loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday night. However, head coach Christie Sides highlighted areas for Clark’s improvement, specifically her mid-range game and her frequent discussions with referees.

Caitlin Clark needs to change: What has the Indiana Fever coach asked of her?

Clark’s technical foul near the end of the first quarter, seemingly due to a verbal exchange, prompted Sides to speak with her during the subsequent free throws.

Sides’ useful advice for Clark

Sides did not specify the reason for the technical but expressed her desire for Clark to focus on her mid-range shooting, especially before the Fever’s 78-73 win against the Sparks on Friday.

“We’re spending too much time talking to the officials,” Sides said.

“We’ve got to leave that alone. We’ve got to just play our game and let them do their job and not put it in their hands.

“We shouldn’t get technicals. Let me get the technicals.”

The Fever, currently at a 1-7 record, played in front of a packed Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with notable attendees including Indiana Pacers stars Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin, and Andrew Nembhard, as well as NFL players Shaquille Leonard and Nick Cross.

Sides has been pushing for Clark, famous for her spectacular long-range three-pointers in college, to develop a more versatile scoring approach. Pre-game shooting drills were adjusted to emphasize long two-pointers, as reported by The Indy Star.
