The league released the upcoming season’s schedule on Thursday, leaving skeptics wondering whether NFL bosses intentionally ensured Swift would be available to cheer on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, when the Chiefs are slated to play.
Director of Broadcasting, Charlotte Carey, shut down the theories during an appearance on the Up And Adams podcast, but said Swift did have an impact on the league’s schedule-making process.
‘There are (music) tours and things, as there are every year, and it always gets harder and harder, and more things happen,’ she told host, Kay Adams.
‘Taylor actually is coming back to the US during our football season and has a couple of blocks in there too,’ she went on.
‘At the end of the day, we still need to be able to play football in all of the weeks that we actually need to be home and play football … but Taylor’s definitely a factor this year also.’
The first leg of Swift’s blockbuster Era’s Tour took place last summer during the NFL off-season, however she will return to the US in the middle of the 2024 football campaign.
The good news for the songstress is that there’s only one Chiefs game she’s guaranteed to miss due to her touring commitments – the December 8 showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium.
She is scheduled to perform in Vancouver that day, in what is her final show in a relentless year of touring.
She will also face a little bit of a race against the clock to make another couple of games.
The Chiefs play the Bills on November 17 in Buffalo, just one day after she performs at the Rogers Center in Toronto.
She also takes the stage one day before the Chiefs are in Carolina, against the Panthers, the week after at the same venue in Canada.
